ISU has 4 libraries. The Junior Library, the Secondary Library and the Uganda Library are all in the main library building. The EC library is in the EC area but linked to our Library database through our software, Destiny.
The Library is a school community effort where the librarian, teachers and students jointly create and maintain a learning environment with access to a wide range of print and non-print information resources. The mission of the library will be to foster in our students a love of reading and the development of life-long learning abilities in information discovery. The collection of library resources will be done in collaboration with the teachers in order to directly support and enhance the school's curriculum requirements and the PYP, MYP and DP programs. Additionally, in consultation with teachers, and through guided inquiry, library and research skills are taught within the context of classroom projects. Finally, in all its resources and programs we seek to reflect the international and multi-cultural nature of the ISU community.
We have over 24,000 individual titles in our print collection and a growing number of e-books through our Library program Destiny and Follett Shelf. We have 500 audiovisual items, over 60 different periodical subscriptions, a large reference section, and 7 internet database subscriptions. We're also equipped with 32 student-accessible computers with protected internet access. ISU Teachers and the Librarians work closely together to select materials that support the International Baccalaureate PYP, MYP and Diploma programmes.
