Message from the Head of School
A very warm welcome to the International School of Uganda (ISU) website.
I hope it will give you a good sense of our school, its history of excellence, our commitment to educating the whole child and our sense of community.
ISU is the oldest international school in Uganda. We were established in 1967 and were originally known as Lincoln International School but changed our name to the International School of Uganda to reflect the international curriculum we offer and the international student and faculty body that we have. During the 2016/2017 school year we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary of offering a world class education.
During the year there will be a series of events to celebrate this important anniversary. To help mark this important occasion the Board of Directors has approved no increase to school fees for next year and has increased the amount of available financial assistance to self-paying families. If you are interested in this assistance, please visit the Admission Information page on this website.
Our Mission Statement: We learn together to unlock the opportunities of a changing world.
Vision: We come together as a committed, inclusive community of students, parents, teachers, staff and leaders, in order to prepare for a world that changes with unprecedented speed. Our approaches to learning ground us in the knowledge base of the traditional disciplines. Upon this foundation we build the critical thinking skills and creativity necessary for realizing opportunities, adapting to change and developing a personal moral compass.
This mission statement guides the work of our entire community including teachers, staff, parents, board members and friends of the school who take great pride in effectively collaborating toward achieving this goal.
ISU is a non-profit, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School that provides our students with the chance to learn and grow in an environment that nurtures curiosity, empathy and understanding of others. With 550 students from Pre-K to Grade 12 graduation, representing more than 60 nationalities, we are committed to guiding our students to become responsible global citizens.
Importantly, ISU continues to fulfill its longstanding dedication to student success. At the centre of every great school is its outstanding staff and ISU is no exception. Whether inside the classroom or in one of our extra-curricular activities, students and teachers engage in a learning process that is second to none. ISU staff are recruited from around the world and are part of a highly supportive educational community deeply committed to educating the whole child.
The best way to get to know the school is to come for a visit and discover why ISU truly is an extraordinary school where ideas live and breathe. Please contact us on +256 414 200374/8/9 to arrange a tour of the school. We look forward to welcoming you.
