Why Choose ISU

At ISU, we are genuinely "Dedicated to Student Success." And in so doing, we regard our students as unique learners and challenge them to do their very best with the best educational programme in the world today. Our goal is to transform the potential of our students to bring about their best performance. This is our commitment to you.

Our student body represents over 50 different countries, who through their interaction with one another gain a broader view of the world and grow to understand, respect, celebrate and revere human and cultural diversity. ISU is a child-centred school with a learning environment that fosters the success of each student. This environment enables students to take responsibility for their learning and behaviour, make good decisions and grow in wisdom and maturity. The best characteristic of the faculty is that they are dynamic and caring educators. We are convinced that all students can achieve beyond their expectations through being challenged, working hard and with the faculty's belief in their ability to do so. There is a close student and faculty relationship that creates an environment of mutual respect and trust.

ISU teachers use the best research based teaching methods centered on a dynamic international curriculum that meets a global standard for the best education available, the widely acclaimed and highly respected International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes. In the Junior School, Early Childhood to grade 5, the curriculum is based on the IB Primary Years Programme. While providing a strong foundation in all subject areas, the programme focuses on the social, physical, emotional and cultural development of the child. It provides structured inquiry as a vehicle for learning which is carried forward in the other two IB programmes. In the Senior School, the IB Middle Years Programme forms the core of ISU's educational focus for students in grades 6 to 10. The inter-disciplinary approach to learning develops students' critical thinking abilities and communication skills and offers an academically challenging and stimulating programme of study. In grades 11 and 12 students follow the IB Diploma Programme. Considered the leading edge of secondary education today and the "gold standard" of high school diplomas, this programme of study allows students to expand their horizons and challenge their abilities. ISU has a specialist centre for teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages and an Optimal Learning Centre for those students who require learning support. Both centers serve students of all ages. Through our Sports and Activities Programme students build self-esteem, become motivated learners, practice time management skills, form many friendships and gain a greater identity with our school.

ISU is one of 218 schools world-wide authorised by the International Baccalaureate to offer all three IB programmes - the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. ISU is also accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States and the Council of International Schools, two prestigious international accreditation organisations.
