Trips & Visits

Authentic learning experiences are at the heart of our philosophy of learning at the International School of Uganda (ISU) and we provide a range of opportunities for learning beyond the school campus.

Day Trips

Over the years we have developed strong partnerships with a number of organisations, businesses and community initiatives who work with us to support learning across the school.

Overnight Trips

Junior School

In the Junior School, we have two grade levels that take part in overnight trips.

  • Grade 4 - students have a two day overnight experience, when students stay overnight at school in tents and experience storytelling around a campfire
  • Grade 5 - students have a three day overnight trip to Jinja to help prepare for the PYP exhibition and work together as they prepare for the final learning experience of the PYP.

Senior School

Senior School students travel each year to various locations around Uganda.

  • Week without Walls - The 4-night trip helps us to develop an appreciation of our beautiful host country and culture, extend the curriculum beyond the school campus and are an opportunity to learn new skills and apply knowledge in a different context.
  • UGMUN - Students involved in UGMUN and other activities, go on overnight trips for their planning and leadership retreats.
  • Competitions - Students who are involved in ISSEA (sports, arts, STEM) travel to other countries and schools in Africa to take part in competitions, tournaments and collaborative learning.
