The ISU community saw the reboot of the full school musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Students from grades 2 to 12 worked together to create a stunning performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's musical classic. Click on link to view a slideshow of images from the musical.

The School proudly inaugurated the Science Centre on Wednesday. The Science Centre is one of the best equipped and state-of-the-art facilities in Uganda.

The Stanbic/ISU Family Fun Run, which took place in early June, was a big success with many hundreds of runners helping to raise 45 million shillings for worthy causes supporting needy children in Uganda. The spectacular Cantina Latina, PTA's Curriculum related event aimed at celebrating the Latin American Culture was a huge success with a large turnout of families, good food, music and entertainment. The ISSEA girls basketball team, who are about to travel to South Africa for the International Schools of Southern and East Africa (ISSEA) basketball tournament, played an invitational ladies team (the Hot Chicks) comprising ISU staff members, alumni and parents, some of whom were ex-ISSEA players and some of whom had only started playing a few weeks before!

The Festival of World Cultures, held on 29 January, showcased the diverse nature of the ISU community. The Parade of Nations through the campus with students and staff dressed in their national costumes or colours made a colourful display.

Students and staff celebrated Uganda's independence day by showcasing Uganda's diversity with staff dressing traditionally and students performing local dances. Spirit of Uganda dance troupe entertained and drumming resounded around the Sports Hall. Many parents attended with the Ugandans dressed in their traditional attire. Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable hour of celebration.

May 24th, 2013 was the date of the graduation ceremony for ISU's 44 seniors. In addition to the many speeches, marked by the Valedictorian address by Jessica Forsyth and the Salutatorian address by Kathleen Noble, many of the students received awards for their achievements at ISU over the years. The ISU- Stanbic Bank Family Fun Run had an incredible turn out two weeks ago and raised 50 million shillings! The event was a huge success with over 1000 people registering for the event. The money raised will be split between the four beneficiaries (Muni Maini Breast Cancer, Rahab Uganda, USPCA and the ISU Scholarship Fund) equally meaning each will receive 12,500,000/-. This event couldn't be possible without the help of the volunteers and the organisers who work hard to make the day a great success. The play is our six Grade 11 Theatre Arts students' first devising project culminating in their performance on April 17th and 18th. Their work was thoroughly enjoyed by those who attended. Using Tennyson's Lady of Shallot as their stimulus, the students were required to apply taught skills and techniques to create, develop, devise and perform a finished piece of work.

The PTA's curriculum related event that focuses on language, art and music is coming up! The event encourage all members of the family to speak, practice and learn french while enjoying french pastries and cabaret music. The main highlight is a classical concert featuring ISU's talented faculty members and ISU's head of school, Christopher Maggio.

Catherine Namwezi, ISU's first scholarship student won the annual prestigious Margaret Sanders scholarship. This is awarded for perseverance, motivation and cultural understanding. She was also recently accepted into Hope College in Michigan, U.S.A. Congratulations to Catherine on her numerous achievements.

Week Without Walls is an opportunity for the Senior School students to leave the campus and spend time undertaking curriculum related activities within the community and creating team spirit by traveling as far as Kibale Forest, Lake Nabugabi and Jinja. The Grade 10 students spent the week job shadowing to get experience of the working world and the Grade 12 students sat the mock IB Diploma exams.

The Festival of World Cultures, held last Wednesday, showcased the diverse nature of the ISU community. The whole-school assembly was well represented by the 66 nations taking part, where students and staff were joined by parents. Students then spent time in workshops learning about other cultures before a World Lunch, organized by the PTA, which was beautifully set out with dishes from many countries. In order to raise awareness about the importance of respect, the 8th grade students created the following music video. The students wrote the lyrics, composed the music, and filmed and edited the video as part of their life skills and technology classes.

ISU is proud to announce the results of the ISSEA Volleyball and Football Tournaments. The ISSEA football teams have returned from Zimbabwe having played very well against tough opposition. The girls came 1st and the boys 4th. The ISSEA volleyball teams both came 1st and the boys team were awarded the ISSEA Sportsmanship trophy as voted by the other schools. Team ISU took part in the Fun Run to raise funds for the Hope Ward at International Hospital Kampala which provides desperately needed surgical and medical support to needy Ugandan families. The team of 21 from 7 to 60 years old took part in the 10km run and the 5km walk/run and had a good time, everyone completing the distances and some going further than they expected!! Well done Team ISU for supporting the Ugandan community.

This well attended and highly acclaimed play by the grade 12 Diploma students was performed in order to build and extend skills and techniques already learned and through the process of developing the production be challenged to acquire new ones.
