ISU provides our students with a full range of learning opportunities within a blended learning environment.
A variety of technology is readily available to all students and teachers across the campus, enhancing a setting that fosters creativity, innovation, problem-solving, communication and computational thinking.
Our aim is to ensure we balance integrating the technology appropriately across all facets of school life whilst equipping the next generation with the technological skills they need.
Junior School
- In Grade 4 and 5 students are provided with a laptop to use under the supervision of their teachers.
- Early Childhood to Grade 3 have access to iPads and integrate the technology when appropriate.
There is a Makerspace workshop where students work with the Technology Coach exploring the use of technology alongside Design Projects.
Senior School
Senior School students have a 1-1 program, using their own computers throughout the school day under the direction and guidance of their teachers.
This provides flexibility with their learning and allows teachers to deliver lessons integrating technology enabling students to learn anything, anywhere, anytime.
Emerging technology
Emerging technology is integrated within the curriculum and through after school activities using robotics, Virtual Reality (VR) and Arduinos to explore developing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for the campus.
Grade 8 to 12 also take part in an annual STEM competition that includes International Schools within East and Southern Africa.
Balance
Balance is an important part of a student’s experience with technology at ISU. We proactively educate students and parents on strategies on how to use technology positively and productively.
This is delivered through a range of workshops at school and through online webinars with international speakers.
