International Schools of South and East Africa (ISSEA) is a sports association that offers wonderful opportunities for our student athletes to not only excel athletically in competitive and cooperative environments but to also develop friendships that last a lifetime. Our students compete against 7 other international schools from Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Lusaka, Zimbabwe and South Africa, in a variety of events ranging from volleyball and basketball to choir and band to visual arts and drama. They strive for greatness in each event and in addition to winning as an individual or team they can achieve other awards such as the ISSEA Excellence Award or the Fair Play award which is based on exemplary performance based on respect, team spirit or admirable conduct.

Last week, our ISSEA swimming, basketball and rugby teams traveled to take part in the second season of ISSEA this year.

Rugby traveled to ISK in Kenya and were led by Coach Charles and Coach McVicar. The ISSEA rugby tournament has grown immensely over the last several years and our student athletes represented our school at the highest level. Our young group of boys played their best by improving every match while our girls impressed everyone with a 3rd place finish.

Our swim team traveled the length of the continent to Mozambique where they took part at the American International School of Mozambique. Led by Coach Peter and Angela, our ISU Leopards came away with the most medals in ISU history with a total of 15. Our swimmers were led by Isabel, Kai, Shelby and Keegan. Everyone who took part was extremely happy with their performance.

In Ethiopia, our basketball teams led by Coach Zahara, Vinnie, Ochieng and Kearnan took the courts for some hard fought battles. Christine, Amani and Jenna led the way for the ladies with the highlight being a 24 point win against AISM. The boys played extremely well and won two games led by the great play of Jared, Jordan, Aidan and Teun.

All of the ISSEA events were a great success and ISU is very excited to see our Drama group along with Choir and Band leave in two weeks. Drama led by Ms. Rohyans and Choir/Band by Ms. Sabitti are anxious to showcase the students' talents in Tanzania and Zambia. We wish everyone a great event and please follow us here on FB for real time updates.

Go Leopards!
