Karl Nova joined us for a Monday morning parent forum and shared some of his childhood story of life in the UK and Nigeria.
Through dramatic changes in his childhood, Karl found refuge through books and literature as an opening through to another world. Despite little encouragement to pursue literature, he wrote in secret his own poetry, rap and lyrics. He used his love of literature as a way to stay focused on a pathway towards literature and a degree at Richmond University. His story is shared in his book of poetry and prose “The Curious Case of Karl Nova.” Although Karl had to navigate a challenging journey, his ambition is to support the positive use of hip hop, poetry and music. He will be spending the rest of the week, sharing how reading and writing can be used to positively impact society.
