In today’s workshop Susanne Duerr unpacked the ideas of conflict resolution and how conflict is something that is in all of our lives.  She started by reminding us of the quote by Thomas Crum “The quality of our lives depends not on whether or not we have conflicts, but on how we respond to them.”

After watching a couple of video provocations about how we handle conflict include the entertaining clip from Inside Out above, we looked at different ways of responding to conflict:

Méabh Gilbert, our Senior School Counselor, also reminded us that in dealing with conflict we need to be the thermostat and not the thermometer.  We need to be able to remain calm and help control the temperature of conflict in our homes and not allow ourselves to heat up like the father in Inside Out.
