In today’s parents’ forum we continued The Why Series, starting with the topic of Play.
We explored the opportunities that play offers in supporting a wide range of skills and dispositions need for success in life. We also listened to a TED talk from Dr. Peter Gray, who shares the challenges of the decline of play. Parents then shared ideas about how to give their children more opportunities to play after school, in unstructured and imaginative play. We ended by sharing some of the steps we have taken to support play in the school through unstructured play breaks, play equipment, movement breaks and passion projects.
